Buku-buku

Books are awesome things! During the Song Dynasty, Emperor Zhenzong 宋真宗 said:

富家不用买良田,书中自有千钟粟。
安居不用架高楼,书中自有黄金屋。
娶妻莫恨无良媒,书中自有颜如玉。
出门莫恨无人随,书中车马多如簇。
男儿欲遂平生志,五经勤向窗前读。

Recently I'm packing my house. Got a lot of books at home.
I have to admit that I am a book-lover; I used to save money on books.
Maybe that's why I ended up like an anorexic. Hahahaha.

But  books really give you knowledge.
And Knowledge = Power.
Well, I can survive without studying, but I can't survive without reading.

When I was really young I read the 三字经.
No, not the KNN CCB kind of 三字经, but the REAL one.
The one that went 人之初 性本善 and most people just end there.
I remember this phrase 人不学 非所宜 幼不学 老何为.
It means if you don't learn when you're young, what are you gonna do when you  turn old?
For me, I definitely don't wanna spend my remaining years at the Kopitiam stirring Kopi-O every morning with a bunch of old chaps. Please, no.

Anyway I have a weird variety of books at home.
Ranging from German Textbooks to 1967 PAP 特刊s and my father's structure sketches and all sorts of funny stuff...

1997 回归 and 1999 last day Special Editions.

The PAP Southern Islands Victory 3rd Anniversary 特刊. I've no idea why I have this lying in my house.
Anyway look at the photos, only two men left.

The sketch is nice...

My father is an avid soccer fan. This is the sticker book and you're supposed to collect them all...

AND INDEED HE COLLECTED THEM ALL. OMG.

Got this book at NUS Forum Bookstore. For Free. This must have been fate.

Talking about the Japanese Occupation, 刘抗 published this set of drawings in 1947 I think.

Got this book in the old bookstores of Tainan. Behind the Train Station.

ZHIHAO 看这里!
My dad's sketches...

I have this set of Straits Times at home...
Back then I was only 5 I think.

The papers are turning yellow real fast. I need to preserve them.

And I had this sticker book. I used to collect a lot of stickers and then bring them to school to haolian to my Malay classmates. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

From the left, I turn to the right.
This must have been fate since young. HAHAHAHAH.

Favorite pastime of all: Spinning Erasers. Or flipping my erasers on yours. HAHAHAHA.

Stories from the Qu'ran. Hahahaha. I don't know where this came from, either.
My Dad's German Textbook. Dated 1984. Cool beans huh.

Oh well. That's the end of my book story. If you're interested in my books (ALL THOSE SHOWN ABOVE ARE NON-TRASFERABLE, SORRY!) just feel free to drop me a message.

If not, I'll have a hard time bringing my books to Salvation Army or NLB. :/
CIAOS!
