绿野仙踪

In case you're wondering, 绿野仙踪 is the Chinese name of the novel Wizard of Oz... I sound damn sophisticated right, reading cheem English books like this right hahahhaha...

This week has been a pretty crazy week. If you're thinking that I am going to back to my workplace to KKYLP and start slacking for the rest of the year till ORD, then sorry hah you're DAMN WRONG.

There is this little programme to induce the craziness in us. Which will last till next Friday.
And then there is this big Parade to attend to, and I am freaking black now.
And if I am not black enough already, next week got another tanning session, for another Parade.
I LIKE MYSELF TANNED ANYWAY.

SKINNINESS + TAN = NICE

There are a few things I have taken away this week:

First, when you know that there is a problem, please go and remedy it. And make sure you do follow-ups. If not, the same problem will persist, and will affect morale of your subordinates. 未雨绸缪 IS DA WAY, MAN.

Second, as a leader you should never make use of your subordinates to achieve your personal goals, i.e. you should not volunteer for all sorts of shit jobs, gaining favour from your bosses, and then sub-contract all these nonsense to your employees and 坐享其成. YOU ARE A GOOD WORKER, BUT ALSO A BAD EMPLOYER.

Third, learn to endure nonsense. Some things just happen for no reason, which is itself a reason behind why certain phenomena occurs. Just learn to bear it up, and the eclipse will end sooner or later. AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL THERE IS ALWAYS LIGHT. (but another tunnel might appear again, KPE to CTE users should know lah huh)

Lastly, our 前老大 said that 有国才有家,有家才有我…… How damn true. No wonder he was chosen to be our 老大. Really up there sia, he'll have all my respect.

Anyway today I went to mend my braces again. Which is ARGH ARGH ARGH again. Pain sia...

Just now was at Sentosa for our PAYM Chingay Appreciation Event. I won't really call it dinner because it's kinda clubbing style. And anyway I can't chew anything much, the Fruit Jelly Cocktail Dessert was kindly appreciated. :D

So since I was supposed to go Sentosa at night, during the afternoon I went to Haw Par Villa 虎豹别墅. Heard of this place before annot? Hahahaha. I went there when I was 6, but I have no recollection of the place at all... The place is pretty run down, but not as ulu as I expected. There were some tourists around, but I won't suggest going there at night. The "Hell" will look pretty frightening at night...

I think this place would have looked very grand in the past. Heard from the old people that this place used to be really crowded with tourists and there were acrobat performances here as well. Well the tide of time must have been pretty cruel...

The Haw Par Villa was constructed by the Aw brothers, who happen to be the boss of the famous Tiger Balm company, as a "theme park" to teach traditional Chinese values. The brothers used to stay here too, but after WWII they decided to move out, and anyway the younger brother died first so the elder left for Hawaii and died there. Their sons took over the place and built some memorials for the brothers inside the place and sold the place to the government. Then the Villa started to incur heavy losses and now become so cui lor.

Cute?

Scary, huh?

There are a lot of dioramas and sculptures about Chinese folklore and Chinese values. Apparently the brothers built large dioramas for famous stories like 封神演义 (The Investiture of the Gods), 白蛇传 (Legend of the White Snake) and 西游记 (Journey to the West).

Basically 白蛇传 tells of a stupid young scholar who falls in love with a beautiful woman, unaware that she is a white snake that has taken on human form, along with her green snake sidekick. A nosey monk decides to intervene and cast the white snake under some pagoda. The scholar and their son very anxious and fight with the monk to save their love. Then...... they lived happily every after. The End.

黄河阵

封神演义 is another one, more on the loyalty and justice side. This epic novel is a romanticised retelling of the overthrow of the unscrupulous 商纣王. The story integrates a lot of heroes and immortals, and various spirits like 狐狸精 and stuff that take part in the struggle. Bewitched by his concubine who is actually a fox spirit in disguise, this 商纣王 kills loyal ministers with draconian punishments. After 周武王, with the help of his brother and other loyalists like 姜子牙 succeeded in overthrowing him, basically everyone becomes a God lah.

The Monk kena molest hahahahaha

Journey to West... Everyone also know lah, no need me repeat already...

桃园三结义,but not in Taiwan Taoyuan lah!

薛平贵 find war for the nation. The wife wait for him 18 years inside a cave...

I've no idea what's this.

Most of the tourists are Indian... Why...?

The Melayu Policeman got a Sergeant rank hahaha...

猩猩尚知耕耘事。Even monkeys also know that they must work for food...

The First Line is like, SO TRUE.

I keep seeing the name 清泉 across every painting I see. Who is 清泉? 难道是大华酱油的创办人白清泉?I have no idea!

四十四年四月四日…… What a good day indeed.

It's a pity that this place is so run down and no one jaga the place. It seems that when Money clashes with Heritage, Money always win hands-down. How pragmatism works indeed.

Chingay Appreciation was pretty funnnnnnnnnn
Well that's the end of my week. Yay.
