The Retrocession

Everytime ancient Melaka is being mentioned, the two things that come to my mind is: 1. The founding of Melaka under the Melaka Tree ; 2. The "Malay dilemma" of Hang Tuah and Hang Jebat . Point 1, is obviously something of a legend. Come on, where got kancil so powerful one? I am pretty sure the mousedeer in our zoo would be eaten by the wolves should they be kept in the same compound. Point 2 however, is something worth thinking. I always believe that different cultures produce different sets of values that they embrace. [Hah actually I wrote this on 4 May night but was lazy to edit and post this, and now that the election results are released I guess I shouldn't keep this in my closet anyway.] [5 May, 1am] Went to watch an election rally (ceramah, they call it there) in Kulai, Johor on Saturday night. 心里其实已经酝酿了很久，想看看彼岸的人民究竟对于政局有何看法，对于未来又有什么样的期待。这种东西当然报纸也会写，但是内容真实性似乎永远只能给50%。某些报纸甚至不报真，只报假的…… 我们差不多晚上八点半到古来。古来据说华人很多，尤其是客家人，这次行动党 (not PAP ah) 派了一位超厉害的张念群，作风犀利，精通三语，让家人上台助选（打亲情牌），向老公示爱（打家庭牌），向选民呼吁不要移民新加坡（打爱国牌），还抨击马华候选人不敢跟她展开辩论，当然虏获了大家的心咯！ Actually, 古来才多大，辩论要辨什么，有用咩？你爱不爱你家人，又关我什么事？ 重点是大家似乎已经赌懒国阵很久了，只要是骂政府的，老百姓听起来都爽…… 这场ceramah观众差不多90%都是华人。我们最担心的问题当然就是如果华裔都投民联，巫裔都投国阵，国阵胜选后是不是真的变成巫裔在朝，华裔在野呢？更糟糕的，如果选后出现暴动，党派间的冲突是否马上会变成另一个种族冲突？ 回来的路上，在新山市区黄亚福街 Jalan Wong Ah Fook，成群的飙车族 Mat Rempit 驾着贴满国阵党旗的摩托车在路上奔驰，呼喊口号。换作是新加坡，这些siao的应该会被拉去关几天吧，你妈妈还希望法官可以判几鞭威慑一下。 But why would these samseng kia support BN? So I'm in the Bandar Bersejarah now, just had awesome Haagen Dazs and got a cheap bargain of Malay Textbooks at RM2 each (you'll be wondering WTF but yeah I need to brush up my Malay). Later shall be indulging myself in the love of Jonker Street food and CRUBBBBING . FYL for not having one like mine.

The past week has been really hardcore . I strained/sprained/tore/pulled/hurt (I also don't know) my outer thigh muscles, and walked with a limp. Reason? Stupid enough: I was playing that Maplestory Adventure game on Facebook when someone called me, so I stood up and AWWWW.    ''-_- That was Thursday. So I thought a night's sleep would suffice. It wouldn't, actually. Friday morning I went to the doctors, in camp of course. The doctor is a really imba doctor, he've got medals for saving precious lives of NSFs from the Chief! Pretty awesome. So this doctor said, "Hey you need to rest a few days." Apparently I can't afford to give the Sunday AHM run a miss, so I refused to "rest". Then he gave in and gave me a jab on the ass instead, dubbed the "Painkiller". The jab itself was the Killer of all Pains because it's so painful... Saturday. My leg doesn't really hurt anymore. But my ass is sore. Like you know,...

MONEY MONEY. PAYDAY. AWESOME. How much money will get in 2 hours time??? =DDDDD 钱就算不是万能的，至少，也是千能的吧…… 今天没有做什么，只是去supervise办一下家具而已…… 很久没有看到有40岁的新加坡人不会讲华语，满口只有福建客家广府话的； He can speak 3 dialects, compared to our one and only Mandarin. 也算是个 lingustic talent 吧。 以前中学时候我还以为那些尾班的学生超ah-beng的，今天我才见识到高手。整支手都是 a n g - k o n g ，然后给我灌输了很多他的“思想”： 搬家Uncle：有没有抽烟？(taking out a pack of Marlboro Menthol) 我：Errr.... 没有啦。(stunned as he lighted his stick IN THE VEHICLE with windows closed. I wanna go, but Where got time! My whole life fits into a twelve-foot square box. Wow. Those who watched Eat Pray Love should have heard of this phrase before bah. It's a pretty motivational show I think, I never thought life in such a way before. Hmm. Most probably I will be extending service for another half a year till Jun '12, for I have nothing to do till Aug next year and I don't really have much money to go tour the world. The SPENDTHRIFT BIG TIME regrets not saving enough money... D: That said, people don't have to travel to MANY MANY places just to gain exposure or experience. Staying at one place long enough is actually the same; experiencing LIFE, I put quality over quantity. Saturday is an awesome day. From 6am till now (yes, Sunday morning 9am) I only slept for one hour. On the Night Rider bus, and luckily I've got Chingay participants to wake me up when the bus reached Simei. Alrirght I'm feeling energetic. I'm gonna write mostly in Chinese. [In which it didn't make out. This post is still English GRRRR.] AND I ENSURE YOU THIS IS GONNA BE AN AWFULLY LONG BLOG POST BECAUSE THESE TWO DAYS WAS D A M N H A P P E N I N G                    :) 早上七点多离家先去新山，到那边关卡差不多九点多，然后就走去MBJB 。(MBJB means Majlis Bandaraya JB, basically it's City Government lah, Chinese called 新山市议会, you direct translate means Town Council hahaha) 去市议会，当然不是找政府啦。But值得一提的是，人家的政府机构拜六都有上班的，unlike ours....... 新山市议会楼下有一个Pejabat Pos（邮局）。邮局的服务不错，而且男的服务态度比女的好。Serious, the males talk slowly and carefully and elaborate more when you go "huh?".
